The Multiple Sclerosis Young Professionals Network (MSYPN) is a group of people ages 18 to 45, who have MS, are support partners of people with MS, or who are interested in learning more about MS and the Rocky Mountain MS Center. Throughout the year, MSYPN members meet at networking events, host special fundraising functions, volunteer in the community, and take part in RMMSC committees.
The monthly meet ups are typically casual and driven by discussion among members, but some have a focus on MS support and education with speakers from the Rocky Mountain MS Center and other guests. The MSYPN has become such a strong group thanks to the camaraderie and community that has formed, the meeting topics and activities that take place, and from the generous support of our sponsors Biogen, EMD Serono, and Novartis.
The MSYPN has casual monthly meet ups and volunteer opportunities. We’ve found that the members mainly want to meet others around their age who have MS so they can chat about their experience with MS, but to also not solely focus on MS. MS is a part of their lives, but it does not define who they are. Connections and friendships have organically formed through the MSYPN because members can relate to one another, enjoy hanging out in fun settings, and give back by supporting the work of the Rocky Mountain MS Center.
In 2024, the MSYPN hosted 12 meet ups and various volunteer opportunties. Over this last year, the meet up highlights include going out to dinner, participating as a team for the MS4MS Flat 14er, learning about free SCUBA diving and adventure rec trips for people with MS, helping at the RMMSC gala, and a holiday party. A few of our meet ups also focused on MS specific topics with mental health, resources and education, networking, and more. We’re always asking our members what they want to do for meet ups and if there are any specific topics that they’d like to discuss, so that members get everything out of the group that they want.
If the MSYPN sounds like something you’d like to learn more about, please contact Sarah at ssin@mscenter.org. We’re always bringing on new members and building new connections in the MS community.
