KADEP: A Home Away From Home
To our friends in Thornton and surrounding areas: Are you or a loved one looking for a place to meet, interact, learn, have fun, and be yourself? We invite you to visit our KADEP family and see all that we have to offer younger adults with MS, Stroke, TBI and other acquired neurological conditions.
We know that some people who live with neurological conditions have difficulty functioning independently and fully engaging in community life. Limited opportunities for social interaction and personal growth can lead to a sense of isolation, lack of purpose and depression. The physical and emotional demands of caregiving can create a profound struggle for families who cannot be available 24 hours a day.
Remaining at home with family or living independently in the community can sometimes feel like an overwhelming challenge for everyone involved.
Recognizing our community’s need for a solution to these problems, the King Adult Day Enrichment Program was created in 1991.
Beginning in those early days with just six regular clients, we now host an average of more than 65 clients every weekday.
KADEP is an innovative, community-based and cost-effective day program alternative to nursing home placement for younger adults with MS, brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions. KADEP provides a dynamic array of classes and activities, nursing care and other services designed to enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive and social wellbeing of each participant, supervised by an on-site licensed nurse and support staff.
Offering vital weekday respite and peace of mind to caregivers, KADEP strives to maximize the functioning, independence, wellness and life enjoyment of all who attend.

KADEP Offers Hydrotherapy in Thornton!
We are excited to bring Hydrotherapy to Thornton! In partnership with City of Thornton Parks and Recreation, KADEP’s Hydrotherapy program is now held weekly at the Trail Winds Recreation Center. KADEP clients are transported from the KADEP facility in Westminster to the pool at Trailwinds, where staff and assistants help them every step of the way.
This unique water exercise program offers individuals of all ability levels a variety of exercise opportunities, including adapted swimming, deep and shallow water aerobic exercise, balance and flexibility, and training options.
The water’s resistance results in more controlled movements and participants experience an independence denied to them in other environments. The goal is to help adults and seniors living with MS become stronger and more flexible in body and mind. Participants spend two hours in the pool working on improving their strength, balance, coordination and endurance.
Contact KADEP for more information, schedule a visit with us, and ask about Hydrotherapy today!

More About KADEP
Care
Supervised by an on-site registered nurse, KADEP’s nursing services include medication supervision, assistance with personal care needs and continuous health monitoring that emphasizes the prevention of secondary medical problems. On-call neurology care is always available. Each client is matched with a staff personal care coordinator and benefits from an individual care plan.
Affordability
Most participants utilize Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver funds to pay for KADEP program fees and transportation. KADEP also accepts reimbursement from the Veterans Administration, the Brain Injury Waiver, some private insurers and other third party sources. Sliding scales fees are available for private pay participants with lower incomes.
Lend A Hand!
Since HCBS only partially subsidizes actual program expenses, the Rocky Mountain MS Center depends on charitable contributions from individuals, foundations and other private sources to cover costs. Your contribution ensures KADEP can continue to provide vital services for our clients and our community. Donate now!
