Volunteer Spotlight: Cat V.

April 21-27, 2024 is National Volunteer Week! Please join us as we thank the wonderful volunteers who help us fulfill our mission: To improve the quality of life of individuals and their families living with MS and related neurological diseases through care, support, education and research. #NVW

Cat V. started volunteering with the Rocky Mountain MS Center when she was diagnosed with MS because she wanted to make a difference. “The first year of my diagnosis, I went into a deep dark place. I thought I was broken, and I was ashamed. A friend happened to be part of the MSYPN group and urged me to attend a meetup. Turns out it was the best thing I could have done.”

Cat started out helping with our MS Young Professionals Group (MSYPN) and then connected with many other Rocky Mountain MS Center programs and services. “Outside of the MSYPN meetups and events, my very first volunteer event with the RMMSC was during Christmastime when I came in to assist with activities. I also helped renovate the sensory garden, progressed to volunteering at the MS Education Summit, and now sit on the Finance Committee. I fill in with additional volunteering throughout the year as my schedule allows,” said Cat.

When asked why others should volunteer, Cat said, “I feel very strongly and passionately that we aren’t put on this earth to serve ourselves, rather we are put on this earth to help each other out.” We are so grateful to have Cat as a volunteer. She is always up for helping whenever there is a need, she brings such positivity and joy to our events and activities, and she is a great RMMSC ambassador.
