World-renowned singer Céline Dion connected with the Rocky Mountain MS Center’s Dr. Amanda Piquet when she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) two years ago. Dr. Amanda Piquet leads the Autoimmune Neurology program team at CU Anschutz, heading up part of the Rocky Mountain MS Center’s mission — a focus on the treatment and research of other neurological diseases closely related to MS.

It was recently announced that CU Anschutz has received a $2 Million Grant from the Céline Dion Foundation to advance research into autoimmune neurologic disorders. Dr. Piquet is now the inaugural Céline Dion Foundation Endowed Chair in Autoimmune Neurology, made possible by the grant.

Dion’s story is the subject of an NBC News special that aired last week. Click for a 9NEWS (KUSA) interview with Dr. Piquet, and learn more about the MS Center’s work in Autoimmune Neurology and related diseases.

A documentary film “I Am: Céline Dion” premies on June 25 on Amazon’s Prime streaming video service,  chronicling the singer’s struggle with SPS.
