As the federal government shutdown continues, more than 600,000 Coloradans are at risk of losing the SNAP (food assistance) benefits they rely on each month. State and community organizations are doing all they can to fill the gap, but the loss of federal funding leaves a $120 million shortfall which is far more than local food banks can cover.
Updates as of October 31, 2025 from Hunger Free Colorado:
November SNAP benefits are on hold. EBT cards will still work if you have leftover funds.
- Colorado WIC and school meal programs remain open and funded.
- You can still apply or recertify for SNAP; help is available through the Food Resource Hotline at 855-855-4626.
- If you need food right now, call 2-1-1 or visit feedingcolorado.org/find-food.
For individuals outside of Colorado, Feeding America has a tool to find your local foodbank: (https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank)
