Meet Madison Tran and Daren Writer — part of the team behind “Jags Against MS.” The students at Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, home of the Jaguars, have teamed together with seven other business program classmates to create a company for a cause.
Their company, “Jags Against MS,” sells Colorado-themed hacky sacks with a business plan that includes suppliers, marketing/PR, product analysis, finance and advertising. Right now the team is one of the most profitable companies in the program at Rock Canyon High School.
One key element of the business program is that all companies must donate their proceeds to charity. When determining a nonprofit to support, it was an easy choice — Jags Against MS would support the Rocky Mountain MS Center. Daren explained the impact of MS on his family and the importance of research. If you recognize Daren’s name, it may be because his grandfather is none other than RMMSC founder N. Daren Writer.
“I’ve grown up listening to stories from my grandmother (Diane Writer). It was horrible how the disease affected him, how he had to use crutches and then a wheelchair. We don’t want anyone to suffer like him. So I share our personal impact of MS with people, that any donation helps, and to check out MS facts we are posting on Instagram (@jags.against.ms).”
Thank you to “Jags Against MS” and to all of our third party fundraisers, sponsors, donors and partners. Because of you, RMMSC is able to continue offering invaluable MS resources locally and nationally.
If you’re interested in developing your own project to support the MS Center, or hosting a fundraising event, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Sarah Kyger, Event and Volunteer Manager, at 303-788-4030 ext. 111 or skyger@mscenter.org.
