Volunteer Spotlight: Reese

By April 4, 2019February 7th, 2022eMS News

April 7-13, 2019 is National Volunteer Week! Please join us as we thank the wonderful volunteers who help us fulfill our mission: To improve the quality of life of individuals and their families living with MS and related neurological diseases through care, support, education and research. #NVW

We are so thankful to have so many great volunteers at the Rocky Mountain MS Center. We wanted to highlight a few of these outstanding volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Today, we are highlighting our MS Young Professionals Network volunteer, Reese Garcia.

After her MS diagnosis Reese wanted to find ways to connect and give back to the MS community. She discovered the Rocky Mountain MS Center and started to get involved by donating proceeds from a community fundraising event to our programs and services. After dropping off her donation and touring the King Adult Day Enrichment Program (KADEP), Reese became a part of the MS Young Professionals Network (MSYPN).

Through the MSYPN, Reese has volunteered at the RMMSC Gala, climbed 14ers for MS4MS (and convinced her mom to join too), volunteered and sponsored Drag Queen Bingo, provided support for MSYPN members that have questions about MS, joined our MSYPN mentorship pilot program, written articles for our MSYPN eMSNews column, and more. Reese is always finding ways to spread awareness about MS and the RMMSC, and she’s always willing to help others. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful volunteer.

Reese chooses to volunteer through the MSYPN because she found “people who happened to have MS or a connection to MS, gathering for a cause but also supporting one another, checking up on recent appointments, and having a good time” If you’re interested in becoming an MSYPN volunteer like Reese, contact Sarah at skyger@mscenter.org and check out our MSYPN Facebook page to stay up to date on MSYPN events.
