Movement Matters: Rural Engagement Program Launches Free Exercise Classes in Two Colorado Communities

The MS Center’s Rural Engagement Program has recently partnered with local Physical Therapists to bring live, in-person adaptive exercise classes to two communities in Colorado.

Recently launched in Buena Vista and Durango, the “Movement Matters” program brings the guidance of physical therapy professionals to these twice-monthly classes, tailoring each session to fit the needs of MS patients. Participants are walked through adaptive stretching, mobility training, and aerobic workouts to strengthen everyday balance and flexibility. Instructors are ready to help provide movement modifications to best serve each participant, to ensure they’re getting the most out of every class.

“I’ve seen lots of physical therapists over the years, but none of them have been as good as Garrett,” said Chris, a participant at Movement Matters sessions in Buena Vista. “You can tell he really cares. He’s got the ability to look at what you’re doing and tell you how to make small improvements that will make you stronger. Thank you for making these classes happen in Buena Vista, I am so grateful for the Rocky Mountain MS Center.”

Movement Matters is presented free of charge by the MS Center’s Rural Engagement Program and our physical therapy partners in Buena Vista and Durango. If you’re local to either area, please consider joining! You can learn more about Movement Matters at MSCenter.org/movement.
